Flip Side (2019)
Starting from a batch of unfinished beats in his Boston apartment, Flip Side features a variety of beats produced by musician & beatmaker, Scott Bell. Over the following year, during his relocation to Los Angeles, he continued to expand the project into the completed full-length beat tape. Through his sampled-based production, Scott found it important to capture these beautiful moments of sampled records and turn them into something magical - as if they had a B side to them.
In Scott Bell’s (2Slice) debut beat tape, he demonstrates his production & performance versatility by creating a record full of lush lo-fi soundscapes, with a mixture of more upbeat, hard-hitting boom bap tracks. Scott adds in his own flavor of trumpet lines & harmonies, keyboard licks, vocals, and DJ scratching.
Throughout the record, Scott aims to create a journey & personal storyline through the use of sounds, samples, transitions, and his trumpet.
